If you had 1 billion dollars all in $100 dollar bills, how many times could they

stretch along the length of North Carolina? (HINT – you may need to look up the
length of NC and measure the length of a $100 bill. Just in case you don’t have
one, a $100 bill is the same length as a $1 bill).

Answer: 1.94 times.

Explanation:

Lenght of $100 dollars = 6.14 inches

Lenght of North Carolina = 500 miles long.

Now, in 1 billon = 1,000,000,000

If we divide it by the value of each bill, we will found the number of bills, we have:

N = 1,000,000,000/100 = 10,000,000 bills.

Knowing that each bill is 6.14 inches long, the length of the N bills together is:

6.14in*10,000,000 = 61,400,000 in

Now we need to write this in miles; 63,360 inches is one mile.

Then 61,400,000 in = (61,400,000/63,360) = 969.1 miles.

Now we can find that:

969.1mi/500 mi = 1.94

This means that with 1 billion dollars all in $100 dollar bills we can stretch them 1.94 times along the length of North Carolina.
