Answer:

1.66*20^-4 = H+

pOH= 10.59

Base

Step-by-step explanation:

1) TO get H+ from pH, we need the formula of pH.

pH= - log (H+) (first get rid of negative from right side by dividing both sides by -1)

-pH= log (H+) (now get H+ by itself by undoing the log [the undo log simply raise it by 10]) (what we do to one side we do to other side as well)

10^-pH= H+ [so based on #1 pH is 3.78 simply plug it in and solve]

10^-3.78= H+

1.66*20^-4 = H+

2) We have to know the formula that pH+pOH= 14 (thus simply plug in the pH value they gave and solve)

3.41+pOH= 14

pOH= 10.59

3) the pH scale goes from 0-14 where range of 0-6 is acid, 7 is neutral, 8-14 is base. Since in the question, pH is 8.81 it falls in the range of base thus it is a base.
