2) simplify expression and square both sides

So the answer could be any point in which the sum of the square of the x coordinate and the square of the y coordinate equals to 10.

1² + (y₁)²= 10

1+ (y₁)² = 10

(y₁)²= 10 -1

(y₁)²= 9

y₁= ± √9

y₁= 3 or y₁= -3
