Answer:

The War of 1812 was a war between the United States and the United Kingdom. As the majority of the British army was in Europe during the Napoleonic Wars, the British forces that defended their territories was mainly made up by Canadian soldiers. This conflict ended in a status quo, without significant territorial or political changes, but had positive repercussions in both countries.

In Canada, local people demonstrated the British government their loyalty as well as their defensive ability without the need for help from the British metropolis. Furthermore, they avoided conquest by the United States, maintaining their permanence within the British Empire and creating a great feeling of national unity. For this reason, and the fact that Canada has not had as many wars as the United States throughout history, the War of 1812 is more remembered in Canada than in the United States.
