Answer:

Glucose

Step-by-step explanation:

Cellular respiration is a metabolic process carried out by the cells of all living organisms. It involves the breakdown of food molecules (glucose) in order to release the energy stored in its bonds in a usable form by the cell (ATP). The process of cellular respiration can occur with oxygen (aerobic) or without oxygen (anaerobic). Hence, the only reactants that needs to be supplied to the cells is GLUCOSE.

Glucose is gotten when food substances that we ingest are broken down during digestion. It is the simplest unit of carbohydrates. The digestion process breaks down food e.g rice, wheat etc into glucose, which is then absorbed by the small intestine and released into the bloodstream which circulates it round the body in order for it to reach every cell. Each cell takes in glucose and perform the process of cellular respiration.

The general equation is as follows:

C6H12O6 (glucose) + 6O2 -----> 6CO2 + 6H2O.
