José de San Martin's army was able to occupy the capital of Peru. On July 28 1821, he would proclaim the Indepence of Peru from Spain.

Simón Bolívar secured Argentinian independence and liberated Chile & Peru from Spanish rule in part through a daring march across the Andes.

Miguel Hidalgo started the Mexican War of Independence with the issuing of his Grito de Dolores, or “Cry of Dolores.”
