A carpet Measures 7 feet long and has a diagonal Measurement (85). Find the width of the carpet.

Answer: The width of the carpet is the square root of about 84.7 feet or the square root of 7176.

Explanation:

So a carpet is in a shape of a rectangle and we know the length of the carpet is 7 feet .

so we could use the Pythagorean theorem rule a^ 2 + B^2 =C^2 to find the width.

so 7^2 + b^2= 85^2 where 85 is the hypotenuse and 7 is one of the legs.

49 + b^2 = 7225

-49 49

b^2= 7176

b= 84.7
