On level ground, a tree casts a shadow 36m long while a pole 9.0m

high casts a shadow 12m long. How tall is the tree?

Length (Tallness) of tree = 27 m

Explanation:

Pole length = 9 m

Pole shadow = 12 m

Pole Shadow : Length Ratio = 12 : 9 = 4 : 3

Tree shadow = 36 m

As per 'Shadow : Length' ratio = 4 : 3

36 : L = 4 : 3

Reciprocal, L : 36 = 3 : 4

L / 36 = 3 / 4

L = ( 36 x 3 ) / 4 = 108 / 4

Tree length = 27 m
