x-y=-4 -----> Get the one of the variables by themselves

x=-4+y -----> All i did was adding the y to the the other side to get x by itself

Now all you do is to substitute the in the equation into the other equation

x=-4+y --------------> 6(-4+y)-4y=-12

Then solve

Now since you have your y now all you need to do is to do the same thing

Substitute the y in for the other equation

Then there you go
