SURFACE AREA DEFINITION: The surface area is the sum of the areas of all six sides. To find the area of adjacent sides (Width x Height) x 2 sides. Find the area of ends (Length x Width) x 2 ends. Add the three areas together to find the surface area.

Area is almost the same as surface area. However, surface area is more complicated, and you have to split the object that you are measuring into different parts to get their area before you can find the whole surface area.
