Write the equation of a line with the slope of 2, which contains the point

(4,-8).

y=2x-16

Explanation:

So since we have a point and the slope, we can use the point-slope equation to find our equation of a line

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

Here our (x₁, y₁) point is (4, -8) and our m is 2

Plugging in these values to our equation gives us:

y - (-8) = 2(x - (4)) → distributing the negative to the -8 gives y + 8 = 2(x - 4) → distributing the 2 to the (x - 4) gives y + 8 = 2x - 8 → and finally subtracting the 8 from both sides gives our equation of a line y = 2x - 16
