Terrence and Lee were selling magazines for a charity. In the first week, Terrance sold 30% more than Lee. In the

second week, Terrance sold 8 magazines, but Lee did not sell any. If Terrance sold 50% more than Lee by the end of the
second week, how many magazines did Lee sell?

Lee sold 40 magazines

Explanation:

Equation Model:

Let m be the number of magazines Lee sold.

150%-130%=20%, so if 0.2m=8 then m=40

Let me show another way: In the image above 20% is equal to 8 so if we use 8 and 20% and try to reach our way up to 100% (How much Lee sold in total) then we will get our answer.

20%=8

40%=16

60%=24

80%=32

100%=40

Therefore Lee sold 40 magazines.

Hope that makes sense! If you have any more questions or need further clarification then please comment down below or message me! Good luck!
