Frankenstein's monster was originally just a character in the novel Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus, written by Mary Shelley in 1818. However, the novel became very popular in the years after its publication, and the character of the monster became more and more well-known as the years passed.

The monster has now influenced popular culture in many different ways. It has inspired many derivative artistic works, such as movies, video games and TV shows. It has also created the image of the monster as a giant, often green, robotic man with screws on his head. The monster has become an icon of the horror genre and is often seen as a popular image around Halloween.
