Answer: She now has
2(14)/(15) times as much money as her older sister.

Explanation:

She has
3(1)/(3) times as much money as her older sister. She spends two-fifths
(-(2)/(5)).

An easy way to do this is by converting the mixed number into an improper fraction. You can do this by multiplying the big number times the denominator and adding the numerator; all over the same denominator.

3(1)/(3)=(3*3+1)/(3)=(10)/(3)

Now work out the difference.

(10)/(3)-(2)/(5)=(10*5-3*2)/(15) =(50-6)/(15)=(44)/(15)

Convert from improper fraction to mixed number.

44/15=2

2(14)/(15)
