the area is 7.74 m.
first off, we know that the area of the whole square is 36 m.

the white parts are like quarters of a circle (kinda hard to explain haha) and the radius of these circles is 3 m because 6/2 = 3.

so, we have a total of 4 quarters of a circle with a radius of 3. these circles can become one big circle because there’s 4 and they create a new circle.

we find the area of the circle which is pi r squared, and get 9pi (3squared x pi) and since were looking for the shaded part, we have to subtract this from the original total which was 36. so, the area of the shaded region is 36-9pi and simplified, is 7.74.

i wrote like a whole essay lol and i’m bad at explaining but i hope you got it :)
