Since in this problem they only gave the area and width, we have to make an equation. So 1/2 * x = 3/4, x represents the length which is unknown and 1/2 represents the width. Now we solve the equation. the 3/4 divided by 1/2 equals 3/4 * 2 = 6/4 or 1 1/2
