Answer:
y = -3

Move all terms containing y to the left, all other terms to the right

Add -14y to each side of the equation

-20 + 5y + -14y = 7 + 14y + -14y

Combine like terms: 5y + -14y = -9y

-20 + -9y = 7 + 14y + -14y

Combine like terms: 14y + -14y = 0

-20 + -9y = 7 + 0\\-20 + -9y = 7

Add '20' to each side of the equation

-20 + 20 + -9y = 7 + 20

Combine like terms: -20 + 20 = 0

0 + -9y = 7 + 20\\-9y = 7 + 20

Combine like terms: 7 + 20 = 27

-9y = 27

Divide each side by -9

-9y/9=27/-9\\y=-3
