3x + 4y = 4.25 ➡️ equation 1

2x + 6y = 4.5 ➡️ equation 2

multiply equation 1 by 2
6x + 8y = 8.5 ➡️ equ. 3

multiply equation 2 by 3
6x + 18 y = 13.5 ➡️ equ. 4

by solving equation 3 and 4
y = 0.5
x = 0.75

pens are for $0.5
pencils are for $4.5
