A conversation between a Patrician's child (member of the upper class) and a Plebeian´s child (member of the lower class) probably would have been, if any, a monologue in a commanding way. Tradition had it that the Patricians and the Plebeians should be strictly separated.

It goes without saying that the children of Patricians had a better life than the Plebeian ones.

Although men & women were called citizens, they differed on an important issue: women didn´t have the right to vote, which ment a lot in a Republic where political activities were the backbone of the society. We can even consider this as proof that women were only citizens in name.

So if you were a boy and Patrician your future looked good; if you were a girl and Plebeian it did not.
