What do arrows in a food chain and food web represent?

It represents where the energy goes next. If grass has 1000% energy a grass hopper will only get 100%. When the bird rates the grass hopper it will get 10% energy. When fungi eats the bird it will get 1% of its energy.

They represent where the flow of energy is going. Ex; a fish with an arrow pointing to a bear. The energy of the fish goes to the bear after the bear consumes the fish.
