a rectangular prism has 6 faces: the top and bottom, the sides, the front, and the back

the top and the bottom have the same area, the sides have the same area, and the front and back have the same area

let’s find the sides first:
to find the area of the sides, multiple 19 and 7

19x7=133

since there’re two sides (the left and right), you have to multiply the 133 by 2

133x2=266

now, let’s do the top and bottom:
multiply 48 and 19, since those are the dimensions

48x19=912

multiply this also by two bc the top and the bottom have the same area

912x2=1824

lastly, let’s find the front and back

multiply 48 and 7 to get 336

multiply that again by 2 to get 672

now, add up the three numbers we just found:

266+1824+672=2762

the surface area should be 2762

hope this helped!!

Answer:

2762 in²

Explanation:

The total surface area of a figure is the sum of the areas of its faces.

Area of rectangle= length ×breadth

Assuming that this is a closed box, the total surface area is the total area of its 6 rectangular faces.

Two rectangles have dimensions of 7 in. ×19 in., another two rectangles have dimensions of 48 in. ×7 in., and the last two rectangles have dimensions of 48 in. ×19 in.

Surface area of the figure

= 2(7)(19) +2(48)(7) +2(48)(19)

= 266 +672 +1824

= 2762 in²
