Answer:

Bob was looking for a shade sail that was big enough and wide to cover his hotube. The legs were 6 by 8 but he didnt know how long the hypotinuce was. So he use pythagorean theorm to sove fot the unknown side.

A^2 + B^2 = C^2 --> 6^2 + 8^2 = C^2 --> he square rooted the 6 and 8 and got (36 + 64 = c^2) 100 to get c he had to squar root that. He found out that the missing side was 10 inch long.
