To find the surface area:

⇒ let's define what makes up the surface area of a cylinder

⇒ it is made up of two circles as its bases and its side is a long

rectangular piece curved around

Area of Two Circles

⇒ Area of Circle Formula =
\pi r^(2)

⇒ Area of Two Circle Formula =
2\pi r^(2)

⇒ since r: is length of radius --> 0.75 cm (radius is half of diameter)

Area of Two circles:
2\pi (0.75)^(2) =3.5343

Area of Rectangular piece curved around to form Cylinder

⇒ length: circumference of a circle ⇒
2\pi r

⇒ width: height of the cylinder ⇒ 5cm

Area of Rectangular piece:
2*\pi *0.75*5= 23.5169

Total Area = 27.0512 = 8.6257
\pi square centimetersChoice (B)

Hope that helps!
