The length of a rectangular garden path is 120cm and the width is 630cm Asim is going to cover the path with paving each paving stone is a square of side 30cm, each paving stone costs £2.50

How many paving stones will it take to cover the path and how much will the cost asim to buy?

Explanation:

First of all, and most importanty you start by checking the units, since all these units (cm) are uniform you can then go on to multiply 120 by 630, this gives you the total area of the rectangular garden path, after you have done this keep your answer aside, now find the area of the paving stones(1) this is going to be 30 times 30 since it is a square,keep this answer aside too,

take your first answer (120 times 630) and divide it by (30 times 30) your answer is the number of tiles needed to cover the gardenpath, to find the cost you have to multiply the number of tiles needed to cover the garden path by the price of each tile, this will give you your second answer.
