Answer:

The value of x is 5/4 and y is -5.

Explanation:

  1. Firstly, you have to make the 1st equation as (1) and make 2nd equation as (2).
  2. Secondly, you have to elimimate one of the variable. I choose to eliminate x in order to get rid of x, I add (1) and (2) together as -4x+4x = 0.
  3. Thirdly, you can solve the value of y. Then after getting y value, you can substitute y value into any equation. I choose to put y value into (1).
  4. Lastly, you can solve the equation to get x value.

Answer:

(1.25, - 5 )

Explanation:

Given the 2 equations

- 4x + 3y = - 20 → (1)

4x + 2y = - 5 → (2)

Adding the 2 equations term by term will eliminate the x- term

5y = - 25 ( divide both sides by 5 )

y = - 5

Substitute y = - 5 into either of the 2 equations and solve for x

Substituting into (2)

4x + 2(- 5) = - 5, that is

4x - 10 = - 5 ( add 10 to both sides )

4x = 5 ( divide both sides by 4 )

x =
(5)/(4) = 1.25

Solution is (1.25, - 5 )
