we use linear scale factor you had mentioned that the triangles are similar so the smallest side in the first triangle is 8 and in tje other triangle it is 10

those two sides are equal which means 8 is equal to ten so if 8 is equal to 10 what about 9.if you cross multiply you get 11.25 then you do the same for 12 and get 15

8=10

9=11.25

12=15
