group a had LOWER median than group b. group b has LESS overall variability because it has a SMALLER range than group a.

the line in the middle of the box is the median and you can see b’s median is higher on the number line. then the whole line of b is shorter with less variability because the outliers are the little marks at the end and b’s marks are less far apart.
