Answer:

5 hours

Explanation:

I think your question is missed of key information, allow me to add in and hope it will fit the original one. Please have a look at the attached photo.

My answer:

Given that:

  • Each grid unit represents 1 mile
  • Pedro's routes are: historic village => the science center => the museum
  • Speed of 2 7/10 =
    (27)/(10) miles per hour

and the given coordinates are:

historic village (-4 1/2, 5 1/4) = (-4.5, 5.25)

science center (-4 1/2, -1 3/4) = (-4.5, -1.75)

the museum (2, -1 3/4) = (2, -1.75)

=> The distance from historic village to the science center :

=
\sqrt{(-4.5 -(-4.5))^(2) + (-1.75 - 5.25)^(2) } = 7

=> The distance from the science center to the museum:

=
\sqrt{(2 -(-4.5))^(2) + (-1.75 - (-1.75))^(2) } = 6.5

=> the total distance he travel is: 7 + 6.5 = 13.5 miles

The hours he traveled is: 13.5 miles /
(27)/(10) miles per hour

= 5 hours
