Answer:

Amino acids are organic compounds: meaning they contain carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. They are the building blocks, or monomers of proteins. They are made of a carboxyl group and an amino group. There is also a side chain, that is different for each of the 20 amino acids.
