What do you think the different parts of Omelas (setting, townspeople, flute player, etc) represent? How do these reveal the meaning and theme of the story?

Omelas was not a perfect city as depicted.

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Omelas is described as Utopia. The city was believed to be perfect with the beautiful mountains and the sea. The exuberant summer festivals with all the fun-filled activities make people think it was a perfect city.
  • But Omelas was not perfect as said. It had the people who lived under poverty and the children who lived without any privileges.
  • The flute player creates beautiful music all the people should be attracted towards him but they distant themselves.
