If g(x) is the inverse of f(x), then by definition of inverse function,

f(g(x)) = g(f(x)) = x

Given that f(x) = 5x - 4, we have

f(g(x)) = 5 g(x) - 4 = x

Solve for g(x) :

5 g(x) - 4 = x

5 g(x) = x + 4

g(x) = (x + 4)/5
