HELP QUICK!!! Describe an environmental factor that could influence natural selection and decrease genetic diversity. Pick a specific example to illustrate your point.

Answer:

One environmental factor could be a drought, which could kill all the plants in a certain area and change their color (brown perhaps). This would increase natural selection for the organisms that have the same color as the withered plants, as they could use camouflage to hide from predators. This would decrease genetic diversity tho because it would favor organisms of only a certain color. This would most likely be a type of natural selection known as directional selection.
