I’m writing to share my outlook about the advantages and disadvantages of being an exchange student.
Recently, being an exchange student is becoming a trending culture that has captivated the public’s attention and the most essential reason is its benefits.
To start with, being an exchange student can increase our tolerance for other cultures. Different countries have different cultures to give us a worldview including the teaching materials and atmosphere during the lessons, the types of meals during the lunchtime as well as the scenery of the cities. And I’m sure it can be a great experience to stay in one new country to learn more than just stay in the ordinary place for long periods of time.
Moving on, it is highly appealing to meet new friends in different countries. We can study and search knowledge together. Moreover, we can learn each other’s language during the conversations. Mastering one language can make you become confident!
However there is no doubt that every coin has two sides.
Actually, foreign exchange requires a sizeable amount of money. Whether it’s covering program costs, living costs, or travel expenses. Therefore you need to consider your economic situation carefully before making a plan.
In addition, you may feel lonely and homesick when you come to one new country, and the phone meeting to your family and old friends always can’t instead of face-to-face meeting. That’s why, being an exchange student is not an easy decision.
All in all, everything has both two sides which are good and bad. Anyway, the most important thing is try to discuss with your family when you decide foreign exchange and I’m sure they can give you some useful suggestions.
