3x² - 4x -2 = 0 .. 2 roots: (-b ± √b² - 4ac) / 2a

a = 3, b = -4, c = -2

x = ((-(-4)) ± √(-4)² - 4x3x(-2)) / (2x3)

= (4 ± √16 + 24) / 6

= (4 ± √40) / 6

= (4 ± 2√10) /6

= (2 ± √10) / 3
