K is the midpoint of segment JL. JK = 6x + 7 and KL = 9x – 2. Find x and JL.

To find : The value of x and JL ?

Solution :

K is the midpoint of segment JL.

So, the distance is equal.

i.e. JK=KL


6x+7=9x-2


3x=9


x=(9)/(3)


x=3

The value of x is 3.


JL = JK+KL\\JL=6x+7+9x-2\\JL=15x+5\\JL=15(3)+5\\JL=45+5\\JL=50

Therefore, JL is 50 unit.
