Answer:

Equation would be 1.25m = 6.50.

The taxi traveld 5.2 miles.

Explanation:

So we know that they charge 1.25 per mile but we dont know how many miles they traveld.

Our total cost was 6.50. This is imediatly enough information to help build an equation.

Since the amount of the miles travels is unkown, we leave it as "m" but we know it cost 1.25 per mile therfore it makes it 1.25m

Next we do, 1.25m = 6.50 since 6.50 was our total cost.

Now, we solve it! We solve it by simply dividing 1.25 on both sides:

(1.25m)/(1.25) =
(6.50)/(1.25)

When we divide 1.25 by 1.25 we get 1 which leaves it at 0. When we divide 6.50 by 1.25 we get 5.2.

m = 5.2

miles = 5.2
