First Make a claim: --O’Flaherty feels that war is necessary. OR -- O’Flaherty feels that war is not necessary. Second Find textual evidence (from the story) that supports your claim. Third Write a fully developed paragraph that includes: a topic sentence, relevant supporting details, at least ONE piece of textual evidence (integrated using a lead-in, quote, citation, and sentence of explanation/elaboration), and a concluding/wrap-up sentence for the paragraph.

Answer:

O’Flaherty feels that war is not necessary.

Step-by-step explanation:

From the emphatic way the story is being written by the author at this point where it says;

"The sniper looked at his enemy falling and he shuddered.. he began to gibber to himself, cursing the war,.."

Finally, when the sniper realized he had killed a member of his own family-his little brother, the author portrays the fact that war often affects us in ways that we cannot foresee. Implying that war is not necessary.

Interestingly, the author was able to conceal the identity of the enemy killed until the ending of story when he then says;

"The sniper turns over the dead body only to realize that the dead man is his little brother."

This concealing was made possible because of his narration of using the third person point of view.
