Given:

Quadrilateral PQRS is a rhombus.

To find:

The value of y.

Solution:

In the rhombus PQRS,

PS = 10y and SR = y + 45

Property of rhombus:

All sides are congruent.

⇒ PS = SR

⇒ 10y = y + 45

Subtract y from both sides.

⇒ 10y - y = y + 45 - y

⇒ 9y = 45

Divide by 9 on both sides.

$\Rightarrow (9y)/(9) =(45)/(9)

y = 5

The value of y is 5.
