(1) The inspiring history of Aurarius is truly “golden.” (2) The town, named after the Latin word for gold, originated from the Gold Rush. (3) These golden origins have inspired Hammond Brigner, the most award-winning playwright in the town, to write a fabulous play called The Golden Age of Aurarius. (4) This witty play, which brings to life many of the founders of Aurarius, is currently being produced by the Aurarius Players, one of the finest community theater groups in the state. (5) The Golden Age of Aurarius tells the story of Aurarius from its founding as a major river trading post in the West. (6) Because the play covers more than one hundred years of history, Brigner employs a character to pose as Felipe Duarte, one of the town’s founders; this strategy adds continuity to the play. (7) The set design features reproductions of notable buildings around a model western town; audiences will gasp at the realism of the details. (8) Audiences also will recognize many of the actors. (9) The current mayor of Aurarius, Bill McWilliams, shines as mayor Hutchinson. (10) Tina Frere brings life to the founding mother of the town, Magdalene Duarte.
