Independence was granted to India (from the United Kingdom), Indonesia (from the Netherlands), the Philippines (from the US) and a number of Arab nations, from specific mandates which had been granted to great powers from League of Nations Mandates. For the country that was not, until 1945, Prussia existed as a state within Germany. After the defeat of Germany in World War II, most of what was originally Prussia was ceded to Poland, and Prussia ceased to exist altogether
