Bob is training for a race. Bob ran 14.6 miles away from his home. Then Bob ran 9.8 miles towards his home. Finally Bob ran 5.3 miles away from his home. How far is Bob from his home?

On the first one he ran away from his home by a distance of 14.6 miles since he went away from his home the signal of this stage will be positive, on the second one he ran towards his home by a distance of 9.8 miles in this case he got closer to home than on his first stage, so the signal of this stage will be negative, on the last stage he ran away from his home by a distance of 5.3 miles, so the signal will be positive.

Distance from his home = stage1 - stage2 + stage1

Distance from his home = 14.6 - 9.8 + 5.3 = 10.1 miles
