Scott's bedroom is 4 meters long and 6 meters wide. Starting at the far left corner, Scott walks down the length, across the width, and then diagonally back to the far left corner. How far does Scott walk? If necessary, round to the nearest tenth. Please help with this phytagareon theorem question . Thanks a lot

Here we have , Scott's bedroom is 4 meters long and 6 meters wide. Starting at the far left corner, Scott walks down the length, across the width, and then diagonally back to the far left corner. We need to find How far does Scott walk . Let's find out:

Basically we have parameters as :


Length=4m\\Width=6m

By Pythagoras Theorem :


Diagonal^2=Length^2+Width^2


Diagonal^2=Length^2+Width^2


Diagonal=√(Length^2+Width^2)


Diagonal=√(4^2+6^2)


Diagonal=√(16+36)


Diagonal=√(42) = 6.5m

Now , Scott's walks down the length, across the width, and then diagonally back to the far left corner i.e.


4+6+6.5


16.5m

Therefore , Scott walks
16.5m .
