Explanation:

20 pairs of socks would cost Z (let the unknown cost be Z)

i.e 1 pair = $3

20 pairs = $Z

To get the value of Z, cross multiply

Z x 1 = 20 x $3

Z = $60

Thus, Meg bought the 20 pairs of socks for $60
