Then, we have to calculate the volume

- The volume of a box is: 3 x 3 x 3
(1)/(2\\) = 31.5 feet square

=> Two boxes' volume is: 2 x 31.5 = 63 feet square < 72 feet square

As the volume of two boxes is smaller than the volume of one crate, so that one crate can hold the contents of 2 boxes.
