3x+2y=-4 ............................. equation 1


y=4x-2 ............................... equation 2

Using substitution method

substitute
y=4x-2 into equation 1 , equation 1 then becomes


3x + 2(4x-2) = -4


3x+8x-4 = -4


11x-4=-4

add 4 to both sides


11x = 0

therefore:


x = 0

substitute
x = 0 into equation 2 to find the value of y


y = 4x - 2


y = 4(0) - 2


y = -2

therefore:


x = 0 and
y = -2
