Oligodendrocytes are the neuroglia that surrounds the axon which helps in transmitting the information from one neuron to another neuron very quickly in the central nervous system. Around fifty axons are processed by single oligodendrocytes. It happens by the myelin sheath that made up of white coating.

It is found only in the central nervous system which comprised the spinal cord and brain. These cells thought that originate from the ventral neural tube. The oligodendrocytes are found more in numbers in men than women. Each of the cells makes one single segment of my lean sheath for several adjacent axons.
