Answer:

48 inches

Explanation:

Given:

A square and an equilateral triangle have the same perimeter

Each side of the triangle is 4 inches longer than each side of the square.

To find:

What is the perimeter of the square = ?

Solution:

Let side of square be
x

Then side of triangle will be
x+4

Perimeter of square = Perimeter of equilateral triangle

4*\ side =
3* side

4x = 3(x + 4)\\4x = 3x + 12

Subtracting both side by
3x

4x - 3x = 3x - 3x + 12\\x = 12

side of square,
x = 12 inches

side of triangle will be
x+4, 12 + 4 = 16 inches

Now, perimeter of the square =
4*\ side

=
4*12 = 48 inches

Therefore, perimeter of the square is 48 inches.
