Answer:

Nate broke the record by 7/12 feet

Explanation:

So first you need to make it into an improper fraction an then make the denominators the same. So since 4 and 3 both go into 12 you can change the denominator to 12 but what you do to the bottom, you also have to do to the top. So it will look like this :

6x3=18; 18+2=20 (so you're answer is now 20/3)

7x4=28; 28+1=29 (so you're answer is now 29/4)

now you need to make the denominators the same, so since 3 and 4 both go into 12 you can do this (but what you do to the bottom you also need to the top):

20/3 (multiply the top and bottom by 4 and you'll get 80/12)

29/4 (multiply the top and bottom by 3 and you'll get 87/12)

and now all you need to do is subtract 87/12 and 80/12 and you're final answer should be 7/12. So therefore, Nate broke the record by 7/12 feet(p.s. correct me if I'm wrong)

6 2/3 feet is also 6 8/12
7 1/4 is also 7 3/12
So then we do (7*12)+3 and get 87/12
Then (6*12)+8 and get 80/12
87/12 - 80/12 is
ANSWER
7/12
