Explanation: After the Civil War, white Americans migrated Westwards and there was an increased interest in acquiring land for agriculture as well as mining possibilities. White Americans squatted on Indigenous lands. This limited the areas which Native Americans could retreat when their lands were invaded. This led to conflicts between Indians and Anti-Indian sentiments increased. This was also a period of Industrialization and land grab acts such as the Homestead Act, were passed. The homestead Act opened the West to settlement and assigned 160 acres of land to people who were 21 years or older and the head of a family.
