A woman stands 15 ft from a statue. She looks up at an angle of 60° to see the top of the statue. Her eye level is 5 ft above the ground. How tall is the statue to the nearest foot?

We want to calculate the height CE of the statue.

CE=CD+DE

First we find CD using trigonometry

Tan 60=CD/15

CD=15 X Tan 60

=25.98 ft

DE=AB= 5ft( Sides of a Rectangle)

Therefore the height of the statue

CE=CD+DE = 25.98+5=30.98 ft

=31ft( to the nearest foot)
